FLX Luxury Soft Wander Tee Review: Tall Sizing Measured at 6’8″

The FLX Luxury Soft Tee from Kohl’s is a strong option for men who want comfort, fit and serious value — especially in tall sizes. This review is based on several of them, worn and washed over months, measured with a tape rather than described from a product page.

For calibration, because it is the only thing that makes a fit review useful: I am 6 foot 8 and 285 pounds, ordinary build, some muscle and some not. If you are shorter or lighter than that, these shirts will read longer on you than they do on me.

The measurements, taken with a tape

Every number below comes off a 2XLT laid flat. I measured body length from the bottom of the front collar straight down to the hem, because that is a point you can find on a shirt you already own without guessing. Note that brand size charts usually measure from the top of the shoulder instead, so their published figure will read several inches longer than mine. Compare like with like.

A 51 inch chest measurement puts this squarely where a 2XL should be, so the tall sizing here is doing what tall sizing is supposed to do: adding length without inflating the body. The shrinkage test, which is the real finding

This is the number I could not find anywhere else, so I tracked it. These shirts have been through five to ten full cycles, washed and tumble dried, not line dried, not cold-and-careful. Normal laundry.

No measurable shrinkage. The body length has not moved. For a tall garment that matters more than it does for anyone else, because a regular shirt that shrinks an inch is slightly shorter, while a tall shirt that shrinks an inch is back to being a regular shirt and the reason you paid for tall in the first place is gone.

If you have ever bought a tall tee, loved it, and quietly retired it after a month, this is usually what happened. It did not happen here.

How it actually fits at 6 foot 8

• Length: stays tucked, and stays down when reaching overhead. At my height that is not a given — most 2XL regulars ride up within an hour.
• Chest and shoulders: clean without being tight. It does not pull across the front, and it does not billow.
• Sleeve: lands where a short sleeve should rather than creeping toward the elbow.
• Fabric: soft immediately, not the stiff-then-soften kind. It does not feel cheap, which at this price it has every excuse to.
• Drape: hangs rather than clinging, which on a larger frame is the difference between looking dressed and looking poured in.

One thing worth knowing: the polo is not the same size

I wear a 2XLT in these tees but a 3XLT in the FLX polos. That is not an inconsistency in the sizing, it is the nature of the garment. A polo has a placket, a structured collar and a firmer knit, so it has far less give across the chest and shoulders than a jersey tee does. Buying the polo in your tee size is the most common mistake with this line.

Price, and the honest caveat about it

The value is the headline. With Kohl’s promotions running as often as they do, these land under $15. At that price the question is not whether it is worth buying one, it is why you would buy one instead of three.

The caveat: the sticker price is close to meaningless here. Kohl’s runs promotions almost continuously, so paying full price for these is a timing problem rather than a budget one. Wait a week if they are not on offer.

How to check these numbers against a shirt you own

1. Find the tee you own that fits you best and lay it flat, no stretching.
2. Measure from the bottom of the front collar straight down to the hem. Write it down.
3. Measure pit to pit across the chest and double it.
4. Compare against the table above. If your best shirt is shorter than 29.25 inches in the body, this will be longer on you than what you are used to — which is probably why you are reading a tall review.
5. If it is longer, size accordingly, and read why tall sizing still misses before you order.

What I layer over it — and both of these are on Amazon

This tee is a Kohl’s house brand, so there is no Amazon link for it. What goes over it is a different matter. I measured five outer layers against each other and kept two, and the number that decided both was the shoulder rather than the length.

Who this is for, and who should skip it

Buy it if you are roughly 6 foot 2 and up, you want a plain tee that stays tucked, and you have been burned by tall shirts that shrank back to regular. Skip it if you want heavyweight cotton with structure — this is a soft performance-leaning knit and it drapes rather than holds a shape.

Final Tall Take

Simple, comfortable and priced right. These outperform most basic tees at this price point, and the no-shrinkage result after months of normal laundry is what moves them from good value to genuinely worth restocking.
