Do Kohl’s FLX Clothes Run Small? Big and Tall Sizing, Measured at 6’8″

No — Kohl’s FLX runs roomy in big and tall, not small. I am 6’8″ and 285 lb, I own three FLX pieces, and I have measured them. The 3XLT polo comes out at 55 inches around the chest, which is three inches wider than an Under Armour polo wearing the same 3XLT label.
That is the useful answer, and there is a second one underneath it: FLX is unusually consistent from style to style, which is rare enough in big and tall that it is worth knowing before you order.
The three pieces, measured

The finding: FLX holds its pattern across styles
The Wander Polo and the Printed Golf Polo are different shirts — different fabric hand, different collar behaviour, sold months apart. On the two figures I took on both, they are the same garment: 30.5 inches of body, 27.5 flat at the chest.
That matters more than it sounds. Big and tall sizing is normally a lottery within a single brand — I have two Under Armour tops, both labelled 3XLT, that differ by four inches around the chest. If FLX’s 3XLT is a real pattern rather than a suggestion, then once you know your FLX size you can order the next style blind. That is worth a lot when the alternative is a return.
The honest limit on that claim: two polos is two data points, in one category, at one size. It is not proof that FLX is consistent across categories. If I get an FLX bottom on a tape and it agrees, the claim gets stronger; if it does not, this paragraph changes.
3XLT means different things at different brands
Same label, three brands, all polos, all measured by me:

FLX ties Greg Norman at the top of that range and runs three inches wider than Under Armour. So if an FLX 3XLT fits you, do not assume a UA 3XLT will — that one is the trim cut of the three. What about the step from 2XLT to 3XLT?
The tee is a 2XLT at 51 inches around and the polos are 3XLTs at 55, which looks like a clean four-inch step. It is not, and I am not going to present it as one. A tee and a polo are different patterns, so the gap between them is part size step and part garment. The only clean size-step evidence I have is inside a single garment, and it is here: does sizing up actually add length. The short version is that a size up mostly buys width, and how much length it buys is not predictable from the label.
The catch with FLX
- It is Kohl’s only. You cannot pick these up on Amazon, and the big-and-tall sizes sell out of the good colours first.
- The Wander Polo’s collar loses structure over time. Mine has. If a collar standing up matters to you, the printed golf polo holds its shape better.
- Body length is good, not exceptional. 30.5 inches front-collar-to-hem stays tucked on me at 6’8″, but it is not a huge margin. If you are long in the torso specifically, check that number rather than the size.
What I would buy again
- Luxury Soft Wander Tee, 2XLT — usually under $15 with Kohl’s promotions running, and it did not shrink across ten wash-and-tumble-dry cycles, which is the thing that quietly ruins tall t-shirts. Measured review.

FLX runs roomy, not small. Its 3XLT is 55 inches around — level with Greg Norman, three inches wider than Under Armour’s. Its two polos measure identically, so your FLX size should travel between styles. Buy the printed golf polo if you want the collar to hold, the Wander if you want the softest thing in the drawer, and the tee in more than one colour.
