Amazon Essentials Men’s Slim-Fit Comfort Stretch Jean
Jeans that don’t cost a ton to own (I now own four pairs). That is the most useful thing I can tell you about a inexpensive jean — I went back for another, and another, and another.

What It Is
- Slim fit comfort stretch jean
- Stretch denim fabric
- Night-out ready look
- Big & tall sizing available
Tall Fit
- Length: ✔️ Available in extended sizing
- Fit: Slim through the leg — runs snug, know that going in
- Cut: Clean, modern slim silhouette
👉 Tighter in the leg than a relaxed fit — but that’s the point on a night out
Measured
Taken by hand at 6 foot 8 on a size 40 x 36, laid flat. Double the flat figures for full circumference.
| Measurement | Size 40 x 36 |
|---|---|
| Front rise | 11.75 in |
| Back rise | 17.25 in |
| Inseam | 36 in |
| Waist, flat | 20.75 in (41.5 in) |
| Thigh, flat | 12 in (24 in) |
| Leg opening, flat | 7.25 in (14.5 in) |
That 14.5 inch leg opening is the slimmest of four pairs I measured, which confirms what the listing says rather than contradicting it. This is a slim jean and it behaves like one.
The honest part: the rise runs low
Rise scales with waist size, so raw numbers do not compare across sizes. Normalised to a size 36, this pair sits at 11.25 inches of front rise. The pair that fits me best measures 12.25. These run a full inch short.
On me, with a bit of a dad bod, the waistband sits below the gut rather than at the waist. Not ideal. But at this price I will take that trade, and evidently I will take it 4x. The full explanation of why rise matters more than inseam is in why your 36 inseam is not the problem.
Feel
- Comfort stretch fabric — not stiff denim
- Moves better than the price suggests
- Holds its shape through the evening
Style
- Night out — bar, dinner, anywhere you want to look sharp
- Looks like expensive jeans. They are not.
- Pair with a clean fitted tee, polo, or button-up
- The slim cut does the heavy lifting visually
Value
Even if these were just okay, that price makes them worth the gamble. They are better than okay. Five or six wears in, washed with no special care, they have held their shape with a little stretch and no fading. One inch short on the rise and still one of the best steals in big and tall denim.
Pros
- Almost too cheap to ignore
- Looks like premium denim on the body
- Comfort stretch makes slim fit wearable
- Great night-out option without the night-out price
Cons
- Slim fit — tighter in the leg than a relaxed or straight fit
- Not an everyday comfort jean for bigger legs
- Rise runs about an inch short for a long torso
Verdict
Worth it? → ABSOLUTELY YES
Score: 9.0 / 10
- Fit: 8
- Comfort: 8.5
- Style: 9.5
- Value: 10
